The Urge To Purge

Yep, I've started another purge of my sewing room.  Just my projects cupboard this time.  Wow, I found so many projects I forgot I had and loved!!!!!!!  Unfortunately this is a feat where it's necessary to make a BIG mess to get to the final results so here is the big mess:

And here is progress.  The room is not completely tidied up...I'd like to see my whole cutting table.  But I received three new quilt books in the mail today so I wanted to go and look at them!  Yep, I have an illness!!!

Believe it or not, that cupboard has a lot fewer projects in it.  Now to get photos and prices of the stuff I did purge.  Hopefully this weekend!  Then a list of what I'm going to work on, finish and by when (ideally!!)

I went to the High River Stitchers group tonight (finally!!) and it was fun!!!!  Great conversation, a lot of laughs and one of the ladies there had lived in High Prairie and recognized me from the post office!  Gosh, it's a small world!  Yesterday Blair went to do a small job at a lady's house and she and her husband had lived in High Prairie for a couple of years!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Hubby told me tonight that the people who bought our place are moving so are listing it.  I'm not sure why that makes me sad.......I thought they were a perfect fit, that their kids would grow up there and make memories like our family did.  I guess not....maybe the next family will be perfect.  I miss that place some days.

The last class for my Disappearing pinwheel quilt tomorrow.  I hope things go smoothly and everyone finishes!!!!!!!  Then I can bring my quilt home!!

A Wonderful Easter Weekend!

First off Mondays Mug Memories!!!  Here is a mug i bought at my favorite store in High Prairie...my friend Erica owns it and I've mentioned it before on my blog.  I chose it today because I'm hoping.....I'm hoping these darn hot flashes will pass!!!!!!!!
I feel like I could do that...stand in front of a fan, arms up in the air!  Actually if I was in private, no shirt would be good!!!!!!

I had a wonderful weekend!!!!  Our eldest son and his girlfriend came down from St Albert and after working Saturday (me not them!!) we had a reservation at the Longview Steakhouse.  YUMMO!!
Rated 12th best steakhouse in the WORLD the food is delicious!!  You would never know by looking

at the building or the inside but never mind that....just look forward to the food!!!!  We are always treated very well (so is everyone else) because Hubby has been doing the wiring on their new building.  They are a great family of very hard working people!!  Here's Son1 with girlfriend enjoying the meal!

They left yesterday and I started some laundry since Hubby and A were heading north today for work.  The Habs were on at 5 and this is the gang in between periods!

Hahaha!!!!!!  Today was cleaning day and I washed the bedding in the spare room and did some towels.  I'm using the self clean feature on my oven...the top one is done and now I'm doing the bottom.  It's a beautiful day so windows are open to air the place out!!!!!!!!  I'm not sure how that will affect the dusted furniture but oh well.....nothing a duster can't take care of later!

I am hoping to get into the sewing room and do some purging this week.  I am feeling anxious about my numerous-and-way-too-many-to-finish-in-a-lifetime kits I have that I also add to!!!!  Maybe I can list them on FB like my FB friend from Calgary!!!  We will see how organized I can be!

Twenty Six Years Ago......

Today is our 26th wedding anniversary.  The weather in Calgary was much nicer that day then it is today.  There was no snow on the ground and you didn't need a jacket!  We had a very small wedding.  Hubby and I had one attendant....I had my girlfriend from college and he has his brother.  Our parents were there, my brothers, girlfriends, Hubby's sister and her husband, Hubby's aunt and uncle who lived in Okotoks at the time.  Nice and small.  Our wedding album has pictures of our parents and best man and maid of honor....and it's sad.......my girlfriend and my dad are the only ones, besides us, who are still with us.  I tear up looking at the album.

It still amazes me how young we all look!!!!!!!!!  But I've decided I've earned every wrinkle and grey hair!  That's what living life is all about right?  There are many in these pictures who wish they could see more wrinkles and grey hair............I miss them all so much.

Hockey playoffs start tonight so it will be order in Chinese and watch the Habs game!!!!  Hey, we got engaged during a game...why stop now???  LOL (wish I was watching my Flames though hahaha)

Mondays Mug

Monday Morning.  Wow, it is the 14th of April already!!!!!  The sooner this spring passes the better.....for most of High River residents' nerves.  Things look good so far.

My Monday Mug Memory is this mug I just purchased on the way to Spokane at the duty free store.  "Embrace Change". I think I've done a pretty good job of that since moving down here a year and a half+ ago.  There is still so much more to embrace.....but I've made friends, got a job I love.  A person can't expect things to be like they were in our hometown where we knew so many people.  But we are adjusting nicely.  I smile this morning when I look out on this sunny, clear morning and I can see the mountains.  Anyway, here is the mug:

The girls are settling in after their trip.  S is off to work this morning.  A is still having problems with her tonsils and needs to go back to a Dr.  No spots but they are huge and red.  Ugh.  I talked to Dad who did get me a couple of quilty things...but took them home with him.  Hubby and A will be up there next week for work so I'm hoping he will send them down with them.  S got me a pincushion.  My Mom was very much into sea turtles.  She even had them tattooed on her leg. So the pincushion reminds me of her:

It has a wooden base which is really neat.  I'm getting quite a collection of pincushions!  :)

I have a long list of things to do today and son2 is coming down for overnight.  He's picking up his holiday trailer.  I'll have to think of what to make for supper.

I got this in last week and haven't had time to sit and read it cover to cover......I LOVE what I have seen though!!!  I need to get binding on one more "baby" quilt and I'll have time.

Hubby is chomping at the bit to get to Okotoks, which I have to go to as well.  Best get ready for the day!!!!!

All That and a Bag of Potato Chips

Not sure why the title....a phrase that's stuck in my head!  Hahaha. My head that's still a little stuffy but I'm feeling much more normal.  I was to work today but my wonderful boss Lucie and fellow staff member Mavis said I could stay home again to recoup.  I'll be as good as new and all energized for next week!!!!!!!

I did go in for my Disappearing Pinwheel class yesterday afternoon.  Armed with Kleenex and hand sanitizer we had a great time!!  I had four lovely ladies taking the class and they said they had fun!!!! Tonight is the last class for the crazy wool pincushion.  I can't wait to see what the ladies have done and I hope they all went on and continued to embellish and have fun with it!

The girls and my dad are heading home from Hawaii and the girls will land in Calgary tomorrow morning.  I hinted about a kit for a Hawaiian appliqué project...a cushion or Wallhanging.  I sent Dad a picture of this so he knew what I was talking about.  I hope they found one.  :)

On holidays I enjoyed a couple of yummy sangria's!  Here's one from Applebee's.  I'm going to find
me a couple of good recipes and whip them up throughout the summer.

YUMMO!  I could use that good fruit right now!  Tee hee!

*cough* *sniffle* *achoo*

Yep still suffering.  I coughed so much last night I slept on the couch...well I laid on the couch and between the cats and dogs, I didn't sleep much!  So glad Lucie let me have the day off!  I would have been a mess at work.  It's a windy day but nice and warm and sunny!!!!

I thought I'd share some photos of some quilt shops we went to while in Spokane.  Out in Reardon, Washington is The Buggy Barn!  It was the first stop of the week.  It's on a farm seemingly in the middle of no where on a road that is very washboard-y.  But that didn't stop us!!!!!  They've expanded since I was there last.  Still not a huge store but love the samples and the location.  Their classroom is in a different outbuilding which I didn't take a picture of.  Here's the sign at the end of the driveway and then pictures from the door......right to left.

Lots to see!  The Quilting Bee in Spokane is a favorite of mine too.  They were having a 20% off sale on fabric so we went there twice.  :

Here are pics of other shops.  The only one in Coeur D'Alene was The Bears Paw.

Hattie's had the best prices on their fabric and pre-cuts!  The fellow who owns it with his wife was from Alberta originally!  We had a blast with him the last time we were there!  This time too!  One of my pals even got a Ceasar!!!!!!  Now that's service!!!!!!!
On the way home we stopped at a shop in Bonners Ferry right before the border.  I restrained myself and only bought some floss I needed for my pincushion.

I loved the sign they had on their door:

Enough pictures for now!  Off to blow my nose.  :(

I'm Back!!

Wow, once again it's been awhile since my last post.  I went away with my quilty pals from up north to Spokane!  We shopped (too much), ate (way too much) and had a barrel of laughs!  It was nice to be away but I can honestly say I was shopped out!!!!!  Two of my friends were very generous and shared their colds with me...so now I am sick!  I have today to recuperate (I've done nothing since I got home!) as I work tomorrow, teach a class Wedensday, work Thursday and teach Thursday night!  I sure hope I get feeling better!  I do NOT want to spread this!!!!

I have a ton of pictures I could show you of our trip.  We shopped at some amazing quilt shops the first being The Buggy Barn!  But they will have to wait......today is Mondays Mug Memories day.  This mug is just from Starbucks.  I bought it in Cochran last winter while waiting for my daughter at hockey practice.  I looked at it and saw quilt block!

I was also working on my pincushion.  I think the top is done.  It will have to be as I have to get it put together.  Sue, a gal in the class, will have an amazing one!  I've seen snippets of hers!!!!!
Before with just the appliqué:

After with all the stitching and embellishments:

Off I go to lie down.  I have so many things I want to get done today!!!!!!!!
