My Head is Spinning!!!!!!!!

These last few days have been CrAzY!  Let me fill you in!
But first off I treated myself to some peonies.....LOVE this flower....they are beautiful and they smell wonderful!  They are all open now.

Daughter1 surprised me with this mug!  <3

My friend is in the hospital in Edmonton....recently diagnosed with leukaemia (AML) and is undergoing chemo....her treatments are finished but she has to stay in hospital for a total of 30 days.  She sent me this picture....the bird picture is something I painted for her...I also made one for her daughter.  I was so touched that this is something she will be looking at for 30 days.......I hope my prayers and positive vibes come through it.  I need her to get better......

This morning I popped into the kindergarten class I was working in.  They presented me with this adorable picture!!!!!  Each grape was a picture made by the children.  The purple ones were from the class I worked with the longest and who I saw today.  They were to be pictures of them and I.  I think the kids were surprised I was there and I received many great hugs!!!!!!!!  I hope to pop in again before the end of the year.

I have signed up for this class that starts tomorrow night.  If you can, zoom in on the flowers in the basket.....cute! I really shouldn't take the time to go to this class but it's only for two evenings so I should be able to manage.......because........

We found out today that our house sold.......here's where the craziness comes in.  My friend Pam came for a visit and arrived Wednesday....she came with me to my Dr appointment in Calgary Thursday.  While at our stop at a quilt shop I got a call from the realtor we have had show our place a few times.  He asked if one of his associates could show our house....I said "sure"  So Pam had to withstand me cleaning and us driving around for over an hour on Friday only to find out our realtor had told me the wrong day! The showing was to be Saturday....and what else was Saturday???  My purging sale!!!!!  So I bumped the sale time up to end at noon, Pam left around 11, my friend Sue helped me at the sale and I quickly tidied up and Hubby, the dogs and I left again.....Lonnnnnng story short, we have accepted an offer but we have to be out by July 10!!!!!!!  Conditions are to come off next week......I am kind of panicking thinking of everything I have to do!  We are hoping to just rent for a bit while we figure out what and where we want to be!  Saying my head is spinning is an understatement.  We hadn't listed officially and had kind of thought we would wait until next spring!  LOLOL  Oh what is life if not unpredictable!!!!!   Here is my celebratory drink at supper tonight with Daughter 2

I will work on purging unwanted stuff and by then the conditions should be lifted and I can start packing!  Garage sales will be happening for the next few weekends.  I've got this!  hahaha (wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!)

Feels Like Summer!

We have had some amazing weather and I had Hubby in a motivated mood to get a few things done this weekend!  I do feel guilty asking but hey, this is his place too!  hahaha!!!  We planted a few more shrubs and some more perennial plants in the back flowerbeds yesterday.  We also gave them a good soaking.  I think the beds look much better and will really look good when the old plants start filling out and flowering.  I haven't bought annuals for my barrel planters yet.....one of these days.  I am just waiting for our big hail storm.  Maybe this year we won't get one.....fingers crossed!!!!!!!!

I am having another quilty purging sale this Saturday.  I didn't have one last year and still have a bunch of stuff to "relocate" (right Kathy!) to someone else's home.  I went through the kit cupboard and found more to add to it.  Here are a few of the things I decided to part with....I have some wool felt kits and a rug hooking kit to add as well....they are in another room.

Oh, good intentions!  And don't think the cupboard is bare.....FAR from it!!!!!! But I purged last week before Heritage Park Quilt Show in Calgary and decided I wasn't going to tempt myself this year.  *patting myself on the back!!*  But my friend Pam is arriving on Wednesday and I know we will visit a few quilt shops (I have a Dr appointment in Calgary Thursday so we might as well make a day of it!) so I hope I can have some restraint.

This peanut spent most of the day Saturday with us....her Mom did too.  Here is a shot of a snapchat Daughter1 had sent me one day....she has discovered that she can take her clothes off!  Oh she cracks us up.....doing funny things like pretending to pass you something then pulls it away and laughs!!!!!  Hubby wants to teach her to say "psych!" when she does it!  The expressions she makes (this is one of her new ones) and just her overall personality, keep us laughing for sure!!!

And this is happening with the other peanut!!!!!!  He is always on the move so the fact he is starting to walk already does not surprise me!!!!!!!!  (I hope the video works!sorry I can't get it to work....so computer illiterate!)

Look at the facial expression when he starts!!!  Another one who cracks me up!!!!!  Time for a visit soon!!!!!!!!! (even though we just saw him on the long weekend!!!!)

I am working through my to-do list for the day....it's a long one but I am making headway!  Another beautiful day out there!!!!!!

Great Long Weekend!

May long weekends are typically met with rainy or snowy weather.  This years was amazing!!  Hubby and I headed north to our hometown for a visit.  I took this picture to show the bugs on the windshield......Northern Alberta has a lot of bugs!  LOL  The drive was nice and quiet but lonnnnnng!

We arrived late Friday afternoon and on Saturday I went to town to visit my favourite shops.....the quilt shop was closed for the weekend......I get that retailers need a long weekend too but I won't say I wasn't disappointed.  The bank account was happy though!

My favourite giftware store was open though!!!!!  I had a great visit with Erica and made some purchases.....the BIG one I will reveal at a later date (it's not even here yet!)  But I LOVE my new mug!!!!!!

Lunch on Saturday was DELICIOUS!!!!!!!  I took my Dad out to Christies Greenhouse and had lunch at The Farm Truck...a food truck owned and operated by our friends Carey and Diane Perry and their "daughter-in-law" Morgan!  It was GREAT to see them too and the food!!!!!!  DROOOOOOL!!!!!!  We met Son2, Jenna and Jude out there so Jenna and I split the poutine and beer bread burger and then had the toffee pudding for dessert (no pic!)  They are fully booked for the summer and I can see why!!!!!

Sunday these guys came out to my Dad's and then a whole bunch of people came for supper.....my brothers and their crew (except one nephew) and family friends.

BBQ and wiener roasts; friends and family....life is GOOD!!!!!

My poor 4 Runner when we got home!  Hubby took care of that yesterday and got it all cleaned up!

I've been "subbing" at the high school and this is my last week.......high school has changed ALOT since I was there.....I much prefer the young kiddos!  Not that the teenagers are rude or bad just different then the young 'uns!!  LOL  This afternoon and Friday afternoon....then I will have fulfilled my commitment!  Tomorrow I have a Dr appointment in Calgary so was unable to work.

My friend Pam is coming next week to visit for a few days (yippee!!!!!) and I am hoping to have a quilty garage sale on Saturday morning.  I still have quite a bit leftover from a couple of years ago but I need to add to it too!  That will be next weeks job!

Always something that needs doing!  Keeps life interesting!!!!!

Sniffle, A-choo!

Yep, caught a doozy!  It seemed to come on quickly....is it a cold or allergies?  I don't know if I have allergies but this is most definitely in my eyes too!  I think I need to take a trip to the drugstore for allergy medicine....can't hurt right??  My nose is sore and red and I feel just rotten!  My Dad is coming for a visit and is arriving tomorrow.  He is planning on staying until Sunday so I can't feel this bad.

Have I mentioned what wonderful neighbours we have???????  GREAT ones and if/when we decide to sell and downsize (coming soon I think.....listing anyway, who knows about selling!) I will MISS these neighbours!  Where else can you go and have an NHL referee cut your grass???

Kowel's are an amazing family!  All of them.....Tom's wife is so great too....and they have very nice kiddos.  He knows Hubby is out of town for the week so just came over and cut the grass for me.

I have decided to do the appliqué for the Buggy Barn quilt in wool.  There's not a lot to appliqué and I have enough wool, it will be easy and quick to do.  I picked out colours today but that's as far as I got....soon!  My next set of Kim Diehl fabric came today!  Yikes....I haven't done last months blocks yet!

Once again I feel the need to manage my time better.  I have so much that needs to be done.....I'm desperate to get purging the whole house.  I'm trying to start by selling my tabletop quilting frame and machine that I have only used it once!  It needs to go....if we do sell we will be looking to downsize and I doubt there will be room for this frame.

Off I go to the drugstore before I'm really flat out!

Sewing, Shish Kabobs and Snow

Whoa it's been awhile!

Not too much to report.  Proof positive my life isn't that thrilling!  hahaha  (and for that I am thankful!!)

We had our spring break from work last week.....first having the whole family here for Easter (where we broke from tradition and barbecued shish kabobs and hot dogs for our "Easter" meal Friday....and it was GREAT!) and I got lots of grand-baby cuddles; the girls and I went for pedicures Saturday and the whole weekend was just wonderful.  Hubby took Monday off from work so we were able to have a quiet day together.  My week off went so quickly!!!  I started a new project (when I have a million projects already started!) a Buggy Barn project called Hearts Come Home  I have the blocks pieced.  On four there are bits to appliqué....representing the seasons.  I'll do that before I sew the blocks together.  Colours aren't true but here they are:

As per usual, the procrastinator ME worked on getting paperwork ready for the accountant last week too.  I really dislike when something is hanging over my head and I start losing sleep over it so I have to just "do it"!  It really didn't take me long!

Today I was supposed to meet my friend Pam in Calgary.  She was there with her daughter who had surgery.  But this happened:

My family can tell you how much of a chicken I have become when it comes to driving.  I felt so bad!!!!!!  She said she had brought some hand work to do to keep her busy.  :o)

Later on in the day this happened:

Welcome to southern Alberta!!!!!!  ARGH!!!!!

I had a super busy day at work yesterday...we did screening for next years kindergarten kiddos....I had thought it would be an easier day but I was wrong!  I left work feeling super exhausted!  But having plans on meeting Pam today I forced myself to do my housecleaning and some laundry once I got home.  That meant, when plans changed today, I had no chores left to do.  I really accomplished nothing.....I sat and watched several episodes of Call the Midwife on Netflix, crocheted a dishcloth, and made banana bread (the house still smells amazing!).  I didn't have any walnuts (I love my banana bread with walnuts) but it turned out very tasty and I can bring it in my lunch tomorrow (nut free)!

Crappy weather is in the forecast for the next couple of days.  This is the end of April Mother Nature.....come on!!!!!!  Hubby cut the grass on Sunday (just tidied it up) and now there's more snow to come?  I'm sure it won't stick around, like it didn't today.  Good sewing weather and I should work on getting this top done.....and more Kim Diehl houses as the next ones are on the way!  I am NEVER out of projects!!!!  :oP

Baby Cuddles!!!!!

Awwwww baby cuddles!  And I got in a lot this past weekend.  I cannot believe how much this little guy has grown and changed!  Two weeks and he comes down to Grandma and Grandpa's.  I can't wait!!!!!  He was actually sad to see us go....he started to cry and it broke Grandma's heart!!!!!!!

Daughter2 and her team won the spring tournament in Ardrossan.....it was good hockey.  I realized this weekend I've been doing this hockey "thing" for 21 years!  (with my kids....way more than that watching my Dad and brother!)

Final score......

Jenna, Jude and I went shopping on Saturday and skipped the hockey (I figured after 21 years I can miss a game or two!)... we went to The Barn Owl in Stony Plain.....bought four more 1803 Candles (yikes! I purged my candle cupboard to make room!) and this candle warmer.  :o) Mmmmmmmmm they all smell so gooooooood!

Work yesterday went rather smoothly and I didn't feel totally exhausted afterwards so decided to clean the house....well, I was pooped by the time I finished!  I still have our bedding and towels to wash but I can do that tomorrow after work.

This was the brilliant blue sky this morning....it was cool but I love the sunshine....it gives me energy!  I went and got groceries then came home and did nothing!  hahahaha!  Decided to call and see if I could get in to have my nails done and I could so went and got that done.  I will be more productive on Thursday!  ;o)  Work tomorrow....I'm hoping it's another great day!

Red Sky in the Morning

This mornings sky was beautiful.....it didn't last long....but I knew we would have some wind today!  It wasn't that bad though......whew!

Work went well today but I started getting a bad headache later on this afternoon......I had to pick up our granddaughter from daycare afterwork and started getting the aura of a migraine!  Ugh....took Advil as soon as I got home and it seemed to make things a bit better.

I started the next set of blocks from the Kim Diehl Journey's End Block of the Month (BOM) yesterday and finished them up tonight.  The next blocks are on their way so I wanted to get these done!  I am still really liking this fabric line and of course the house blocks!

Tomorrow I go for another ct scan and doctor visit.....I think this is the last one for awhile.  I will pop by Out of Hand in Calgary and get the next kit for the Message in a Bottle BOM....I'm trying to keep up with all of these BOMs!  :o)

Two more sleeps until is see our grandson!!!!!!!!  (oh yeah and the other people who live in that house!  HAHAHA!!!)  Jenna and I are planning on hitting some shops so that will be fun too!  Lots to do before the weekend though!

Rearranging and Some Stitching

Weekend before this past one, I wanted to move our crib upstairs to a bedroom on the same floor as ours.  One of the spare rooms had a queen sized bed and Daughter2 will take it when she moves again the end of April and up came the crib.  Its a room I want to paint one day but in the meantime here is what I came up with......I may need to find a small dresser to use as a change table/storage but it will work for now.  The quilt on the wall is not quilted yet and I'd like to make some simple curtains....one day.

There are nine of us doing a block exchange making Among Friends, a pattern by Buggy Barn.  Here are my angel blocks....without the halos!  I forgot to take a picture before I packaged them all up!  They will be mailed today.

I really think spring has sprung here.......

We saw this little goofy twice this weekend.....when she sees herself in the phone she sticks out her tongue!!!  Oh she has a sense of humour already!  She's also walking a lot more!!

I don't have to wait until Easter to see and cuddle this cutie!!!!!!!!!  I am going to his place this coming weekend with Daughter2...she has a hockey tournament close by!  Not sure how much hockey I will watch!!!!!  hahaha  I can't wait!!!!!!!  He's a lot more mobile now too and jabbers away!

Still working but now only two days a week....Monday and Wednesday.  Love it!  But I had best get going as it is NOT pyjama day!  LOL

Spring Or??????

You know one of the many fun things about being a grandparent is playing with fun toys again!  I "won" these on an online auction on Facebook!   Score!!!!  I've only kept one out for now (to add to the others I have) and will switch them up every so often.  Lyla especially loves the ones that make sounds or play little tunes.

I've been working for the past three weeks now and am loving it!!!!  I am waiting to hear about next week but was told to be prepared to be at the school awhile yet.  The gal I am covering for has a Dr appointment today so we will find out more I am assuming.

My vehicle has been disgustingly dirty since the last ct scan appointment in Calgary!!!  It had been snowing and it stayed then it hit a cold stretch so I knew there was no point in washing it but Wednesday after school I decided that was the day!  I was really tired of getting my pant leg dirty every time I got in or out of my vehicle!  It has been super warm and a little windy...perfect weather that has melted all the snow and is drying things up wonderfully!

This peanut comes over every weekend so Poppa can get in a visit!  She loves her Poppa!  We get to watch her all day tomorrow and I can't wait!  Her personality is really starting to shine....she's a smart little girl! (at least we think so!  ;)  )

And this cutie pattootie is growing like a weed!  Always full of smiles......Easter weekend cannot come soon enough!  I need to squeeze him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (this picture was sent the morning he woke up screaming at 3:30 am and wouldn't go back to sleep until he got cuddles!  How can you be mad at that face????????)

I'm off to meet my friend Sue for pie uptown and then to get my hair done.  I'm patiently waiting for the sun to come out!!!!!!!  I have a long to-do list for the weekend......including grand daughter cuddles!

Thoughts of Mom

Today was a crazy day.  I stayed home not feeling well.....sore throat, swollen glands.  To add to that, our house was being shown so I took the dogs out for a drive (when all I wanted to do was lay down!).  I received the message yesterday when I got home from work so instead of sitting down then and relaxing, I cleaned.  I was ready this morning.  (haven't heard anything)

My friend Kim text me about a song her daughter was listening to a song by Ed Sheeran called Supermarket Flowers.  I found it and downloaded it on Apple Music where you can also view the lyrics.  I've listened to it several times this evening and teared up (or all out bawled!) every time!  I thought of my Mom.

I loved this line in the song......

"A heart that's broke is a heart that's been loved"

Isn't that so true.  The song is about losing his Mum.....we are so sad losing those who have loved us. Sometimes it seems as though my Mom has passed away only recently.....but it will be six years this August.  I still miss her every day.

One thing my Mom would make for suppers was meatloaf.  It wasn't my favourite meal of all time but I did eat it.  This recipe was on a blog I follow and I made it Friday for when Hubby came home.  It was soooooo easy and soooooo tasty!  I will make it again, with mashed potatoes; comfort food like mom used to make.  <3

                            http://thecraftingchicks.com/moms-easy-homemade-meatloaf-recipe/

It will be an early night for me tonight....tomorrow is a busy day/class and we are having a substitute teacher......oiy!  It might be a long day but I'm sure to survive!  I get my nails done tomorrow and I am wanting a nice light springy colour.  The little things..........

Blocks, A Box and a Saturday Drive

I am not sure if my hand appliqué is improving but I do have fun doing these blocks.  Here is Month two of the BOM from Out of Hand in Calgary called Message in a Bottle:

And here are months one and two sewn together.  I can't really call them blocks because we do at least two blocks a month.  :o)

My next Kim Diehl ones arrived last week but I haven't taken the fabric out of the package yet.
My Sew Sampler box arrived last week too, from Fat Quarter Shop.  Some fun stuff in here!  I have two jolly bars now and should try the free patterns that come with them...I also have the Jolly Bar pattern booklet.

I worked Monday to Thursday last week and I have to say I have missed working with little people!!!!!  It was very fun and very tiring!!!!  I know for sure I have next week too but after that we don't know yet.

Today Hubby and I went for a drive.....he wanted to check out a place that he was told about where you can go skidooing.  I didn't think we would ever get there!  HAHAHA!  But we did.....and you know you are closer to the mountains when you see this much snow!  We basically have none at our house and this was about an hour away.
I was nervous as there was no cell service and we were on a goat trail!  LOL  But it was beautiful scenery and the sun was shining there....cloudy back at home.

Nice to get out and now we are watching hockey and are awaiting pizza delivery!  Baby cuddles this morning....it's been a great day!

Some Block of the Month Stitching and the Sin Bin

Well, I've been doing a bit of stitching.  Here are my Kim Diehl Journey's End Block of the Month blocks for the first month that I am getting from the Fat Quarter Shop.  They were fun to make and I had cut them out when I received them so they were ready to sew together when I had time.  I LOVE anything Kim Diehl, I LOVE houses and this quilt will be all houses!  I LOVE this fabric line by Kim Diehl as well.  The next set should arrive within the next week or so.

Here are the first set of blocks for month one of the Message in a Bottle Block of the Month that I am doing from Out of Hand in Calgary.  I LOVE needle turn appliqué and have watched a few You Tube videos on how to do points so my next blocks should be better!  That's what it's all about isn't it...improving our skills.  I will pick up the next set of fabrics tomorrow after my ct scan.

Hockey last Saturday night in Lethbridge.....yep this is Daughter2.  :oP  She's spending a couple of minutes in the penalty box (sin bin)!

My job interview update:  I didn't get the job.  Someone who used to work at the school got it....it's a tough school to get into!  But I have signed up to be a casual EA and have already been asked to cover a medical leave at that school so on Monday I will be heading to kindergarten for at least two weeks!!!!!  I hope I will survive and I'm hoping to impress them and maybe get in next year.  hahaha!!  Everything happens for a reason..........

Spring Teaser!

After my interview yesterday (I think it went well) I came home to do my Monday housecleaning.  It was so nice outside I opened a few windows......lots of that snow melted throughout the day although we do still have some.  Today is to get to double digits above zero (+12) so it won't take long to melt it all and the great temps are to last all week!!

While cleaning I took down any last signs of winter.....winter quilts and wallhangings were tucked away and I replaced them with lighter ones.  Snowmen table runners were put away as well.  I also brought out this candle I hadn't burned yet.....lilacs are a big reminder of spring!!!!!!  The house smelled wonderful!  I will burn it again today!!!!!

As I sit here relaxing on Valentine's Day morn I am reminded of when my Mom and I owned a flowershop and how CRAZY this day was!!!  Just think of spur of the moment, last minute, 'oops I forgot' men coming in wanting arrangements NOW!  Well, there were men who planned ahead, called earlier in the week and ordered flowers for their sweethearts and so we would be frantically filling those orders and dealing with the last minute guys walking in the door.  Oh it was not a fun time!  hahahaha!  Since then I have told my Hubby he does NOT have to get me a thing on Valentines Day! Just to be able to relax today (and Mothers Day and Easter and Thanksgiving and Christmas) is all I need!  :o)

Happy Valentine's Day to all of my readers and I hope you are doing what you want and if you get flowers from your sweetheart remember to think about the frantic florists working their butts off today!  LOL!!!!  I know I will!

Stitching

Well, I was on a bit of a roll last week and got my Garden Path Buggy Barn blocks from the book Perennially Crazy done.  Love the fabrics in a kit from Village Quilts in Lethbridge that I bought years ago.  I'm just a tiny bit stumped because of the extra fabric I know must be for borders.....I need to figure out how big the borders are supposed to be!  The top from the book is as you see here so the borders are something Village Quilts did to make it bigger......I could call and see if Natasha remembers or still has the quilt around....or I could just figure it out myself! :o)

My daughter's good friend from our hometown is having a baby and had her baby shower on Sunday in Calgary where she is currently living.  I had this top done for awhile and got it quilted with a minky backing and satin binding.  I guess it was a hit!!!!

My friend Sue came with me to my ct scan and Dr meeting on Thursday......then we made the "mistake" of stopping in at a couple of quilt shops on the way home!!!  Both of us purchased the first kit for a BOM called Message in a Bottle from Out of Hand.  Of course that meant we signed up for the rest of them too!!!!  We fell in love with the fabrics!!!!  The quilt has hand appliqué which I love to do.......now to get doing it!  I am also doing the Kim Diehl BOM from Fat Quarter Shop and have five house blocks to get sewn together for Month one!  I have them all cut out and ready to go..........this week for sure!  (of course we won't mention all the other BOMs started but not finished that I have stacked nicely in project boxes!)

I sent my kids their Valentine's Day goodie bags.....and left a bit for us to enjoy.....okay does anyone page anyone any more?????  LOLOLOL!!  (PS  Thumbs up to Canada Post....I mailed the parcel just regular parcel post to St Albert Thursday morning before I left for Calgary and the kids received it the next day!!!!!!!)

Daughter2 had a hockey game in Cochrane Friday night so Hubby left work early, we picked her up and took her there.......Hometown Hockey was set up and we could see stages, ice rink and other temporary buildings when we drove in.  During the first intermission an entertainer from Hometown Hockey came on the ice and juggled flaming mini goalie sticks.  He was pretty good and funny.

My post would not be complete without pictures of the grand babies........
Master Jude turned seven months old last week and his mother informed me this morning that he is officially crawling now!!!!!  Miss Lyla is giggling for Grandpa as he pretends to eat her banana!  She is still not feeling 100% so will go with her mommy to the doctor this afternoon.

I am off to a job interview this morning at a school here in High River....fingers crossed I get it....I miss working with the kiddos and need to get doing something!  It is only 2-3 full days a week so I think that would be perfect for me to get back to the grind..........now to go and sell myself!  ;o)
