"Monday, Monday so good to me....."

Well Happy Monday!!!  All is calm and quiet in this house......the "kid" went home, Hubby is at work, the sun is shining and I just got the house cleaned.  I think I will do some stitching today in the daylight.  My darn eyes are getting worse so evening stitching is getting more difficult even with a good light......old age!  πŸ‘΅

See my new purchases?!  Lovely Dei from Out of Hand in Calgary is so accommodating!  I had emailed asking if she was getting these books in and she said they were on their way.  A couple of days later I received an email saying they had arrived!!!!!  She set them aside for me and Daughter1 picked them up before heading out for a visit last week.  LOVE LOVE LOVE the new Kim Diehl one!  Buttermilk Basin is okay....there are a couple of projects I could see myself doing one day.  Dei is also going to save the new Simply Vintage magazine for me when it comes in and will ship it out because I am hoping our new grandson will have arrived by then and I don't want to bother my daughter (although I will likely be in Calgary and could pick it up!!)

Saturday I went shopping (again) with this little Dude!  He LOVES masks and costumes (as shown in the previous post!) so Darth Vader had to come home with him!

More outside time because it was beautiful!!!!!  It's hard to get a good picture of him because he never stops moving and always makes funny faces!  (see his hand is blurred?)

He's trying to be really funny here!  HAHAHA  Besides the nose picking pictures I had to take one of his belly and foot.....they did not make it to this post!

It was fun having him and now Jenna is done with her course and excelled, of course.  She is truly passionate about her job.  I go and see her, and the dentist she works for, on Friday barring any children being birthed! hahaha  I will likely stay overnight a couple of nights because who wants to drive 2 hours home after a root canal and crown??????

Look who came for a morning visit?  Gosh they are majestic animals!  She heard Phoebe barking (her head off) inside so sauntered away.  Too bad....she could have stayed for a longer visit and those shrubs and bushes are just fine for her to eat!!

Off to put laundry away from yesterday!  Have a happy week All!!!

Lots of February Love

Wow, another month flying by and it's been a busy one!

First off, my new nails 😁.....needed some springy colors (even though it's only February!!!!) and I LOVE polka dots!!!!

I had a dentist appointment in Stony Plain and stayed with these guys:

I had a nice visit and 😍 I will be back next week for more torture....I mean dental work!  πŸ˜†

Came home and this little gal and her Mommy and Auntie came for a visit.  Miss Lyla stayed overnight with us.  What a gal....she's getting very needy...needing our attention all the time.  Her Mommy had a talk with her yesterday (they were out here visiting...we saw Lyla had cut a bit of her hair at daycare (again) and was acting up here, seeking attention.)  Lyla told her its because when the baby comes no one will pay attention to her so she doesn't like her baby brother.....poor thing but I knew there was something up as this all started when her Mommy got pregnant.  Hopefully we can all get her through this and when he arrives, she will love him and be okay.

I ordered one of these thread bowls and I love it!!!!!  I didn't have a choice of color but this one is perfect....it's blue with a bit of purple (on the bottom and a bit at the top....hard to see).  It's holding the thread I am using for a Spring banner for my wallhanging.

This week is busy as I have had this little ninja here for the week while his Mommy goes to her course in Calgary.  This is the last time she has to come for school so we are making the most of it!  He told me yesterday that he wanted to stay here for "weeks and weeks".  Wish we were close and both grand babies lived in one city as I would definitely watch them while their Mommy's worked......but both are too far away. 😞

This picture triggered a memories of his Daddy...we know who he gets his posing and dressing up from!!  πŸ˜‚

Happy these two had time to hang out this week!  The weather has been great for outside time!

I went to a painting party last week after I got home from my annual trip to Calgary and Tom Baker.  It was fun as usual!! (the painting party hahaha) This was made for the new grandson:

On February 8th this lady passed away and is finally at peace.  Auntie Katy (Kay Rygus) was 96 (she would have turned 97 this October).  Auntie Katy has been alone for a long time as her husband (who was alot older than her....arranged marriage) passed away in 1979.  I had never met him as he passed around the time Hubby and I started dating.  They had no children.  She moved to Kamloops for a bit as her brother Alex and his wife lived there but eventually moved back to northern Alberta.  She kept her body very active, (walked every where, lifted pails of water for exercise, had a garden and did her own yard work) and kept up on the news of the day but being alone made her mind imagine things......people stealing from her or breaking things, evil spirits visiting her in the night.  We helped her alot when we lived there and she was in the hospital waiting for a room in the nursing home when we left.  She had fallen and broke her hip, had it repaired but fell again.  She had wanted to meet her Maker for many years and be reunited with her husband....and siblings and parents.  So I am happy that she is there now.  Rest in peace Auntie Katy.  πŸ’—

My plan next week, when the house is back in order, is to spend some time in the sewing room as I have to try and quilt the new baby's quilt!  I would also like to make him a smaller quilt to use now but we will see.......he is due March 2 so that time is coming soon!!!!!!!  Eek, I can't wait and hope I can make it to the hospital on time as I have been asked to be in the room again.  πŸ’™  I know the experience will be as amazing as it was when I experienced Lyla's birth.  I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!

I also have to get at Hubby's book keeping....yuck....but it has to be done and I will be fine once I get going. Hubby is hoping to get up north to do some ski-dooing and will pick up my new table that Dad built for me and some odd chairs that my Dad has collected over time.  I'll have some painting/refinishing to do but I am excited!!!!!

Pixie is doing great.....she even went for a walk on our trails yesterday!  The weather was beautiful and warm and she did great even trekking though some snow with her short little legs! Hoping her illnesses are behind her.

Okay, this post is waaaaaaay too long already so it's time to sign off!  Enjoy your day!!

Lazy!!

Lazy, lazy, lazy!!!  I am having a lazy few days.  Not sure if it's the white skies and no sunshine or what.  Yesterday I had a NAP! A NAP....I never, ever nap!  I could have one today too but am not allowing myself to do that.  I have no motivation to sew or cook....nothing!  ARGH!  So I am writing a blog post!  πŸ˜‚

Still haven't decided on a new blog name.  Domain came about as a rhyme to Jane so maybe Jane's Insane?  HAHAHA!!!!!!!!  Nope, it's true but I won't go there.  πŸ˜œ After telling you guys that my new followers were a bit "iffy" I realized I couldn't see any of 'them' listed under my followers so do not think that anyone listed there is "iffy".  πŸ˜€

It's been awhile since we got a huge dump of snow but we did on Saturday so as soon as it was light enough on Sunday morning, Mr Plow (Hubby) was out clearing it away!!!  First clearing of 2020!  It was a bit heavy so out came the tractor.

The cats were not that amused or interested! :

Goofs!

I did sew on the weekend and made these quilt-as-you-go mug rugs.  They were to have three little hearts appliquΓ©d on them but I had these hearts cut out of old quilts so I put one of them on each rug....I made four.

Nothing too exciting (and they look much better in person)!  All stash fabrics of course (and these didn't put a dent into those fat quarters!

Pixie was back to the vets on Monday for bloodwork after her round of antibiotics.  Things are improving but aren't cleared yet so she is on one more round.  Because they can be a bit hard on the stomach the vet suggested giving her a spoon full of plain yogurt with the pill and she loves it!  Anyway, the levels in her blood that were worrisome as far as her liver was concerned, have really improved!  Whew!  I'm just hoping everything will be fine after this round although it was not suggested we go back for more bloodwork to be sure....just continue to monitor her....which freaks me out a bit but I have to trust this will all be okay.  πŸ€ž

I suppose I should be thinking about something to cook for supper.......double ugh! I don't mind cleaning our house or doing laundry but I sure could use a chef!!!!  Maybe one day when I'm rich and famous!  πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ (for what I don't know!!!)

I hope everyone/anyone reading this has more energy than I do!!

I Need A New Name!

I need a new blog name!!!!!  I keep getting these followers who seem to be into sex stuff!!!!!  Do they think "Jane's Domain" is "Jane the Dominatrix"????????  I don't know how to stop just anyone being able to follow me and I don't know how to get rid of them! I'm sure they are truly disappointed when they read my posts!!!!!   I'm thinking if I have a different name maybe I won't get "these" followers. So give me suggestions!!!!!!  BE NICE!!!!!!  πŸ˜‚πŸ˜†πŸ˜œ

She is Home!

Sorry for the delay in an update on Pixie.  I had a couple of friends text and email asking how she was so I thought I should update on here too.  πŸ’—

Friday afternoon we were able to go and pick her up from the vets. (Hubby even came home early so he could go with me!!)  After looking at X-rays and ultrasounds we were a bit disheartened.....seems there is a problem with her liver.  Something in/on/around it(?)  They really didn't know what it was.  She came home with a 10 day supply of antibiotics because the primary goal is to get her white cell counts down.  Well, when we let her down out of the truck, she was so happy to be home!!!!  She pranced around with pep!  πŸ˜ƒ  And she's been so perky ever since!!!!!

We really thought she was so much better after the discovery of the needle and thread and round of antibiotics but then she got worse.  Which has me wondering......did we not clear up the first infection??  Who knows how long that needle and thread had been in there....maybe she has been fighting this infection for months and months.....finally her body pushed the needle (foreign body) out to where it caused her grief while eating her treat and the vet could see it when we took her in.  Maybe the first set of antibiotics weren't enough and she didn't have them long enough?  We never had blood work done before last week....so maybe her white blood cell count was sky high then too.  And, if someone has an infection for that long, could it affect an organ like the liver??  I will be curious to see what her blood work shows after this 10 day cycle.  She sure is doing great!  Eating, playing, brighter all the way around.....like she hasn't been in a long long while.  (and I mean months!!)

I am expecting a call from the vet some time today.  I will tell her my thoughts....hope I don't sound stupid as she did say they didn't think this had anything to do with the needle....well, my gut is telling me different.  πŸ˜‰

Cuddled up in her blanket on the couch:

Saying "hello Mom!":

(still has some weight to lose but she's doing really well!)

So the saga continues but I don't feel it's doom and gloom ahead!

Pixie Update

Just want to post an update on our Pixie after her bloodwork yesterday so I have it documented.

Pixie had to stay overnight at the vets.  First time in her life she hasn’t been with one of us!!!!  It was a long night!  Her bloodwork showed she had an infection..white cell counts very high....so they gave her IV antibiotics and fluids.  Looks like bladder and kidney are okay so it might be her pancreas or liver.  Our vet will consult with the other vet and run more tests.  Oh that little thing!!!!!  I know eventually she will be okay but I think this is as hard on us as it is on her!  LOL  The vet said she will call this morning with an update.  I sure hope they figure out what is wrong and fast!  We need that little peanut back home!!!!!!  Phoebe is a bit confused too.  To say we had a fitful nights sleep is an understatement.

Fingers crossed she is home today!

Red Sky in the Morning....

Well, our cold snapped has left thank goodness!!!!! The temperatures this week have been wonderful....above 0!!  This was a shot of the Chinook ridge I took while getting the mail.  The mountains were clear (you have to expand this wonderful cell phone picture to see them!πŸ™„)  We were in cloud cover all day but you could see the sun in the distance! Glad it brought about warmer weather!!!

Last weekend we went to Calgary to celebrate this little monkeys 4th birthday even though her actual birthday was yesterday.  πŸŽ‚  Oh she is something else.  What a personality she has and she's so smart and funny!!  She came home with us for a sleepover that night and was sound asleep blocks from her house!  Pooped out from the party!!

In the one picture she was shielding her eyes from the sparkler!   πŸ˜‚

I broke my pledge and ordered from Fat Quarter Shop this month.  I was nailed at customs and had to pay GST and the handling fee....almost $19 more to what I already paid for my order and shipping.....but look at the new fabric from Kim Diehl.......drooooooooool!!!!!  No plan for it but she has a new book coming out next month so I'm sure there will be a lot of ideas in there!

Yesterday I finished up this super simple quilt destined for our new grandson arriving in a month and a half.  Now to quilt it!

This little cuties Mommy sent me this picture the other day.  She said there was NO way she could get him to wear this hat over the holiday season but he decided he wanted to wear it a couple of days ago and didn't want to take it off once he got to daycare!  Hey, as parents we have to pick our battles and there's no harm in wearing a Christmas hat after Christmas!!  πŸ˜ƒ

My babies:

The sky this morning:

Red sky at night, sailors delight.  Red sky in the morning, sailors warning.  I guess that means it will be a windy day.

I am taking Pixie back to the vet this afternoon for blood work.  She had another of her screaming episodes night before last and the vet thinks maybe they are seizures.  Fingers crossed they can get her figured out and soon!  She hasn't been herself again this week.........😟

Have a great day wherever you are and whatever you are doing!
