Fall......But For How Long????

I had my nail appointment this week.  My nail gal Kim comes from Edmonton and we have the best conversations.  She is a very interesting woman!  I had seen an idea on Pinterest of fall nails and here is her version:

I love them and have received a lot of compliments!  I love fall!

Hubby and I walked the other night and when we left it was sunny.  We got to the end of the road to turn around and come back and saw this:

We thought we could make it home before the clouds but the wind picked up and we didn't!!!!  First it was ice pellets then POURING rain!  We were both drenched!!!!  Phoebe (the dog) needed a bath as she was all wet and dirty from the gravel road.  We even jogged a bit.......I could only go so far but it helped get us home a bit quicker!  Hubby was wearing shorts and a t-shirt!!!!!!!!!!!!  Crazy guy!!!!!  Anyway, I love fall but since this, we have had snow.....nothing has stayed but it's been ugly!

These two were big pests today!  LOL  I know they look innocent here but....

I am downstairs right now and they are ripping around!  Almost bed time!

I bought some candles today from a couple of gals who have a decor business in the area.  I went to pick them up at one of their houses today and discovered she is the Mom of one of the kiddos who was in a kindergarten class I worked in last year.  BEAUTIFUL house.....and I think I have found my new favourite candles!!!!!!!!!!!!!  (pictures next post) I have Pumpkin Spice burning now and OMG the house smells amazing!!!!!!!  I also bought three other fall scents (yikes!) and will try another one tomorrow.  She let me smell the Christmas ones and you can bet I will be getting those ones too!!!!!!!

Spoke too soon about the snow and it not staying.  More snow is coming down.....Hubby had to sweep off the deck stairs for the dogs.  I'm sure it will be gone soon.  (fingers crossed!!!)

Stay warm!

September News

Another month that has flown by!!!!  Picture heavy post because that is what happens when I don't post on a regular basis!!!!

Daughter1 announced to the FB world the pending arrival of our new grandchild!  Jenna came down to take pics for them (she has edited them better then I did here...I couldn't find the good ones!)

Lyla is so excited to be a big sister and every day asks her Mommy if she's a big sister yet!  Daughter1 is due the beginning of March.

Jenna here means this busy little guy was here too!!!!!!  💙

Home improvements:

New knobs....I forgot a before pic in the kitchen.  Gone is the lovely gold!!!!  What a difference.  Hubby asked if I had stained the cupboards!  Nope...just changed out the knobs.

Simple home improvement that I should have done a long time ago.  There are alot of renovations in this house we would like to do.  The bathroom needs a new vanity top and new tile around the tub/shower.  The kitchen needs new tile, counter top and we still need to replace the fridge and stove (we have replaced the dishwasher and microwave to stainless steel).  One day I would love to paint the cabinets in both rooms.........one day.......

It's been two years since we finished the basement but the four doors needed to be painted....I got that done FINALLY last week!  I was on a roll!  hahaha

I finished a couple of projects....the table runner was for Daughter1 (which is quilted and on her table now) and I also quilted the octagon for our table with basically the same fabric.  I also stitched and bordered this...Happy Everything.  But the fabric I used for the background is too light so I might have to make it "primitive" and tea stain it or use a spray I have..

And of course September means my birthday.  These are the beautiful flowers Hubby brought me:

(you can see the octagon tablerunner!)  They are still beautiful a week later!

And this is 56:

I checked last years pic and my hair is the exact same and my face is a bit thinner.  (I guess 20 lbs thinner...should be 30+ thinner! 😒).  Likely a few more wrinkles!  LOLOL  😂  But hey, I'm still on this side of the dirt and life is good.  🙌

Speaking of weight....I have gained 10+ pounds since my highest loss so I'm back on the WW wagon...tracking.  And I started walking yesterday.....found a safe path to walk by myself.  My walk is done for the day!!  I love crisp fall mornings.  The sun has popped out but now clouds and it just started raining I see!  Weird!!!!!

Daughter2 text me first thing this morning with the news she got an amazing job with Trans Canada in the HR department so she should be set for life!  😁 Whew!!!!

I have a nail appointment this afternoon so should do a bit of sewing before I have to leave.

Happy Fall Y'all!!!! 🍂

Beautiful Sunflowers!

Good Rainy Morning!!!!

A perfect sewing day which I plan on having.......I have a couple of table runners to make and then quilt.

It was a busy but wonderful weekend here!  ALL the kids were here on Saturday!  The girls (and Jude) went to the Bowden Sun Maze.  The weather was absolutely perfect and it was a super fun time!  We went through the beautiful sunflower maze (we didn't get to the corn maze), had ice cream treats and then went to the U-Pick and got a bunch of fresh flowers!

The boys were replacing the brakes on Daughter1's car and when we got back we all sat outside and relaxed.  Perfect day!!!!!!!

After Son1, Son2, Jenna and Jude left Sunday morning, I cleaned, washed bedding and remade beds. Then I sat!  It sure was quiet!!!!!!!!!

It is supposed to be rainy for the next couple of days so it will be a good time for sewing and painting......I need to get myself motivated for the painting!!!!  It's so hard when you don't have a deadline!!!!  I mean, it's been two years already....what's the rush???  😭😭  I know if I just got started.............

So I hope to have quilted items to post next time!!  It's going to be a coffee kinda day too!

I Am Happy :o)

Yesterday was the first day of school for the kiddos.  The night before I was feeling a bit sad.....thinking I would be a soppy, depressed mess.  But I wasn't!  I wished all the EAs a wonderful day on our private FB page, spent time in my sewing room (after my leisurely coffee and yogurt) and then sat outside and stitched bindings.  I stayed up too late last night (I had intentions of getting to bed early....but watched America's Got Talent until 11! By the time I shower and get to bed it was almost 12!  LOL)  and then slept in until 8 this morning!!!!  Beautiful, sunshiny day again today and I went and bought some new magazines, got my hair done, grabbed a Pumpkin Spice Iced Cap from Timmies and on my way home got my parcel from Connecting Threads (three quilt books, a new mug, glue, gloves and a hexie template) in the mailbox.  I am sitting outside right now enjoying the weather and writing this post!!  Life is good!!!!!

Hubby is away working and said he is working the weekend so I will be "free" for two weeks.  Now, that is a long time for me to be alone but I think some of the kids are coming this weekend so it will be perfect!!  He will be home next Friday.

I have so much I should be doing!!!!  The darn garage clean out for one.  I don't think a garage sale is going to happen so I will box up donations and try and sell "good" stuff online.  Then to get ready for my quilting purge sale!!!!!!

This little squirt was here last weekend and so was her Uncle (in the background....avoiding the picture!)  She is so funny!!!!  I have this darn cold so was a bit drained Sunday but perked up Monday!)

It's looking and feeling more and more like fall here.  I cannot believe how fast the leaves are changing!  Yikes!  I do love this time of the year and once again, wished it would be the longest season instead of the shortest!  I need to get at my fall decor so I can put a few things up and purge/sell the rest!!

Trying to stitch bindings is hard with a helper!  😜

Two of my new fall projects done and ready to hang:

All the critters are outside with me enjoying this weather too.  I hope you are having some beautiful fall weather where you are!!!!

Mammo, Grandson and a Turtle

Mammogram and ultrasound in Okotoks went well.  All is good in that department.  Done for another year!

I went to a few shops and then to Calgary then home.  No visiting.  😞

I am part of a group on Facebook and they had a challenge.  These were the two projects available...we could do one or both.  There was a prize I really wanted to win.....so I managed to do both so I would have two chances at the prize!  😁  Although my name wasn't chosen and I didn't win, I still love these projects and now have to quilt them!

This past weekend this little guy came for a sleepover...alone...without his parents!!! First time ever here! (he slept over at his day home once). He did GREAT!!!!

If he is riding something he is in his glory!!  (yep in his pjs!)

Papa let him drive the lawn tractor!

His parents came Sunday evening and stayed overnight.  They all left for home Monday morning and I got a call they had car troubles at Ponoka.  So off I went and picked up Jenna and Jude and Son1 went with the car in the tow truck.  We came back here so they could take my vehicle to use while theirs gets repaired....sounds like that is a frustrating process for Son1!  Anyway, I have the Bumblebee to drive so all is okay here!

One of my lilies that is blooming:

Monday I got my housework done, laundry done and groceries (I started my housework then went to pick the kids up and finished my housecleaning when I got back).  Yesterday I woke up with a sore throat and stuffy head.  I had a nail appointment....not my favourite colour but I wanted the turtle for my Mom💗

I felt worse last night and at about 3 am had to get up to take medicine.  I'm suffering today so it's a lay around and relax day, drinking tea.  I have had one cat or the other on my lap too.  Cozy! Time to take another dose of cold meds!

Feels Like The "F" Word!

Good sunny Saturday morning!!!!!  Yesterday was a drab, COLD day!!!  It sure is feeling like fall.......UGH!  We had a frost warning last night!!!!  It's AUGUST!!!!  Good grief!

Daughter2 just text me asking how long to boil poached eggs....she bought a little silicone holder, similar to mine.  After I got her sorted it hit me.....I used to call my Mom about all those things....I remember, especially, about how to make gravy!  (which I still haven't mastered!)  Now, in this day and age Daughter2 could have likely just googled it and would have found 100 different answers and would have to use whichever one looked like it made sense and, through trial and error, find what worked for her......but she asked ME....her Mom.  Why is this worthy of a blog post?  I guess it's the month, coming up to the anniversary of my Mom's passing and it hit me that there are soooo soooo many times I have wanted to call my Mom....to ask her things; to tell her things; to just hear her voice......... I am thankful and blessed to be here so my kids can call me...or text 😊 when they have questions or just want to tell me something and I would assume (hope) they would miss that if I wasn't here.

(wiping tears away)....

I got the quilts quilted for my friend Pam's two new little grand babies.  Miss Chloe got hers yesterday!  Her Mommy loved it!!!!  (isn't that why we gift things....to bring joy??)

Miss Chloe and her quilt!!

Master Jack hasn't got his yet...soon!  Here is his quilt:

The fuzzy backing is brought to the front for binding.  I hope he and his Mommy love it too!

I made the mistake of letting these two out the other day.  Now, every time I open the door, little Alice goes running out!!!!  Argh, I don't know what to do!!!

I gave them a few new toys this morning so they are happily ripping around with them!!!!!!!

The furnace (set to 65F...I can't figure out how to change it to celsius!) kicked on this morning!  Crazy!  Hopefully it warms up today.....I want to sew so I think I will bring my small machine to the sun room.....I want to soak up the vitamin D!!

Enjoy the day!!!

GREAT Visit!

August.....already.  It's a tough month for me.....since 2016 it's been my "mammogram month".  I go on Monday...and I'm going back to Okotoks.  I feel more comfortable there....I feel treated better and I made sure Dr Lo was going to be there...the one who found my cancer three years ago.  He will be there on Monday when I have my mammogram and ultrasound.  It is also the month my Mom passed away....it will be 8 years this year......😥

But last month ended with a GREAT visit with Pam!  We talked (and talked and talked), went shopping and drank wine (her daughter made us wine tumblers).  We had kitten cuddles....she saw how much they have grown!  I guess she would be their grandma!!!  LOL  They were certainly comfortable with her....I'm sure they remembered her.

😻😻

The day before she left, Son2 arrived for the weekend.  Pam left Saturday morning but before she left Daughter1 brought Lyla for a sleepover and grand-dog Gordon for us to dog-sit while her and the bf went camping with friends for the weekend.  Lyla left Sunday to spend some time with her other grandparents at their lake lot not far from here.  Here is our little Tinkerbell:

Son2 and Gordon:

The weather has changed....it's been grey and drizzly.  I haven't got much done - no motivation.  It's to pour rain tomorrow and I have a quilt to get quilted....I have finished one of the baby quilts so need to get the other one done!  I need to find my sew-jo!!

I also need to get on track as far as my eating is concerned.  I feel as though it's getting out of control again.....stress, the weather, you name it, my excuses are many!  I need to get my act together.....find a purpose and a goal for the day/week/month/year.  I'll get there......
